HDA is a continental platform that connects governments, developers, investors, and diaspora communities with credible housing and real estate opportunities across Africa

The Housing Development Agency (HDA) is a pan-African initiative designed to reshape the continent’s housing and real estate landscape.
We operate as a central hub where governments, developers, financiers, and diaspora investors can access credible housing opportunities and collaborate on large-scale development projects.

Powering a new era of trusted real estate across Africa

To accelerate housing and real estate development in Africa by creating a continental portfolio of credible housing opportunities, connecting diaspora buyers to verified projects and developers, developing affordable and luxury housing solutions, promoting sustainable construction technologies, and partnering with governments and financiers to unlock Africa’s real estate potential.

2026 Keynote by Dr. Edwin Musiime

Director General, Housing Development Agency Africa

Across Africa today, housing is one of the most urgent and defining challenges facing our cities and communities. As populations grow and urban centres expand, millions of families are moving into cities in search of opportunity, employment, and a better life. Yet for many of these families, access to safe, affordable, and dignified housing remains out of reach. The reality is that Africa faces a housing deficit of tens of millions of homes.

In addition to that Informal settlements continue to expand, infrastructure struggles to keep pace with population growth, and the dream of owning or accessing decent housing remains distant for many households.
